Roman Mazur

roman mazurArtistic Director of MAZURDANCE Roman Mazur formerly served for 32 years as Artistic Director and Main Choreographer for the world-known Kiev-based folk dance troupe “Poliot”, which had over 600 dancers, a 24 person orchestra, and which traveled to over 28 countries of the World from Taiwan till Alaska to participate in international dance competitions and festivals.

Awarded the title of “Honorary Worker of Arts of Ukraine” for the efforts in preserving dance culture. Award granted by the Ukrainian Arts Council. Artist Laureate of Dance in several Union Republics. Roman has Master Degree in both educations: dance and pedagogical. He is one of the well world-known specialists in character and folk dances. Choreographer-consultant to the Cleveland Opera during its production of Eugene Onegin. 1977-1997 he worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian National University of Culture. From 1998 choreographer-instructor of Dance Institute of Akron University, OH. He has more than 50 former students, who successfully work in many countries through the word, including the USA and Chicago.

Roman choreographed more than 150 dances from different countries of the World, also the dances for many artistic movies produced in the former USSR, including Fire Drums, which won the Oscar and was directed by Ben Barka. In 1999 under Roman leading MAZURDANCE has been chosen to participate in the cultural program of the Olympic Games (Sydney, Australia) to represent the USA and Ohio.

Tatyana Mazur

tatyana mazurArtistic Director of Mazurdance Tatyana Mazur graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg and danced professionally with the Odessa Government Theatre of Opera and Ballet. She also graduated from the Ukrainian Theatre Institute and Ukrainian Academy of Ballet. Tatyana has Master Degrees in Ballet and Dance.

For 12 years she directed the Government children’s dance company “Yaroslavna” from Kiev, where she successfully staged many ballets including the “Nutcracker”, “Snow Queen” and “Pakhita”. With “Yaroslavna” she toured to France, Germany, Italy, Israel and other countries.

Since 1998, she has been instructing the high level of dance classes (level 8 ) at Akron University’s Dance Institute, OH, where she has staged two ballets: “Snow Maiden” and “Swan Lake”.

After moving to Chicago January 2002 she occupied position of Ballet Mistress in Fabourg Dance Theatre (Hannover Park, IL), where she has staged ballets “Swan Lake”, “Don Q”, “Koppelia”, “La Bayadera”, “Giselle” and the big program of classical dances.
